W.T.O.DEMONSTRATION
LONDON 30/11/99
Following the links made with the
Reclaim The Streets during the Liverpool dock strike, a delegation of
Liverpool dockers joined the demonstration in London at Euston station.
The demonstration was attended
by about 3,000 people from various enviromental groups.The police were
out in force, determined to crush any protest after the June 18 demo in
the city of London.The demonstration started at 5pm after an hour into
the protest the police moved in on the demonstrators and fighting broke
out between police and protesters, who were protesting against the World
Trade Organisation in Seattle, the demo was notable by the absence of
any large number of trade unionists who would be most affected by decisions
made at the W.T.O conference. The demonstartors where hemmed in to the
train station and police snatch squads made numerous arrests. All traffic
to and from Euston station which is the capital's main station was halted
for several hours.
